Change at the Free Clinic

On June 27th, the Free Clinic will conduct its last day as a primary care clinic. For Transylvania County, this is a result of improvements to our healthcare safety net and also a bittersweet change.
Patients currently served by the Free Clinic now have access to Brevard Health Center, located next door at 89B Hospital Drive. Until the end of June, the Free Clinic will continue to operate as usual, every Monday and Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Like a good book that one is sad to finish, the Free Clinic is special to our county. Over the years, hundreds of volunteers have given tens of thousands of hours to care for our friends and neighbors. In the past year, 946 unique patients were seen over the course 2,040 office visits and outreach events in Brevard, Rosman, and Balsam Grove. During 2012 alone, an estimated $992,368 value of medical services was provided to the clinic’s patients.
Thank you Transylvania for all the support we have received.
