Born in Macon, Ga to a college professor who's summers off found us coming to Brevard since the early 1970s to camp and hike in the Pisgah forest. During and after college I worked at two local summer camps and served on the Cedar Mountain VFD. I left the Brevard area to pursue a medical degree at Mercer University, completing that in 2003, followed by internal medicine residency in Jacksonville FL until 2006, at which time I returned to Brevard with Terri Burns. We married in December 2007, and soon after she was deployed in Iraq for a year as a nurse in the reserves, returning in the spring of 2009. Interests include motorcycling around the Blue Ridge, playing guitar and bass with the local musicians, and spending time along the beautiful trails of the area with Terri and our two dogs Marley and Lucy.
