Linda (Linni) Skinner was born in Zimbabwe, Africa. She met her husband Jim Skinner, a resident of Brevard, while on safari in Zimbabwe in 2005. They married in December 2006, in Zimbabwe, and she finally arrived in the US, after 6 months of applications and interviews. She has two sons, Alex and Jon who were both born and raised in Zimbabwe. Alex is now in the United States and studying at Wake Forest University, for a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology. Jon, the youngest, is a tour guide with a company based in Capetown, South Africa.
She applied for the position of Volunteer Coordinator with The Free Clinic of Transylvania County because she enjoys meeting people and as a person with a compassionate nature, strongly supports the wonderful service that this Clinic provides for the many medically un-insured in the community.
She says, "I love my work, the wonderful people I work with and am always so warmed by the gratitude that our patients express for the care and support that they receive from the various volunteers that they come into contact with." It is certainly one of the most rewarding jobs that I have ever had!
